Happy 2nd birthday little man!
Sawyer James, what a journey we've been on and how you have turned our world upside down. Life with this kiddo is eventful, hysterical, emotional, exhausting, and so rewarding. I knew when SJ was in my belly that I would love him unconditionally, but nothing in this world could have prepared me for what the love for a child looks like. When I delivered SJ (after 20 hours of labor and an emergency C-section) I had terrible bronchitis and was sick for a couple of weeks after. I remember sitting in my bed, coughing my head off, trying to nurse a baby that didn't like to nurse, sobbing my eyes out, looking at Clay and saying, "What did we do? I don't even like him." Oh.my.word! The combination of pain medicine, sickness and emotions can make a person CRAZY! Just the thought of how terrified and scared to death I was that I wouldn't have any idea how to raise a baby, makes me giggle now. I sure don't have it perfected, but the Lord has stretched me, challenged me, and is continuing to shape me into a mother. I am overwhelmed daily by God's goodness in our family and this sweet angel he has given us to raise. Our daily prayer is that above all else, Sawyer will walk near to our Lord and live in eternity! I believe with all of my heart that he will change lives and impact our world. This child has a heart of gold with the sweetest spirit. He wakes up with a joy for life and lays down in peace. As I peak in his room everynight, I lay my hand on his chest and pray "Thank you Father for Sawyer, may he serve you in all he does." Happy Birthday to our precious son. We are excited to watch you grow and giggle your little way through life. You are a gift and we cherish you as our only prize! Happy Birthday sweet baby!
Some of our absolute favorite things SJ does at this age:
He says "okay" to everything!
Brings me his hand and says "you kiss it momma."
Jumps up and down forever when we play "hot diggidy dog."
Snuggles while we read books before bed
Lays in bed and talks to his animals for hours before he falls asleep
Wakes up looking for his belly button, just to make sure it didn't go anywhere overnight
While we drive he likes to list all the names of his family and friends
Everything we talk about has to be discussed in colors...blue car, yellow hair, white paper...
When we read "Goodnight Moon" he loves to flip to the blank page and says, "Goodnight nobody"
He makes a really cute silly face and serious face
When the garage opens, no matter what we are doing, his eyes light up like the sun and he runs to the door yelling "dadda home!"
Sj loves avocados, cheese, yogurt, apples and cupcakes...we have a great diet
He sleeps for 12 hours at night and takes a nap once or twice a week (so that might not be my favorite part)
He is starting to sit still for more than 30 seconds at a time
His little mind spins ALL day long and he talks ALL DAY LONG!
For SJ's 2nd birthday we went to Texas and celebrated Mickey Mouse style with the family. Since cupcakes are high on our food pyramid, we had Mickey Mouse cupcakes and also Cuppies and Joes cupcakes when we came back home. Cupcakes are what we live for!
